What is the Authentication Service?
The Authentication Service is a Saudi electronic system established to replace the former Saudi Cultural Attaché. It aims to review and verify the academic certificates of travelers, especially those in high-level professions. The system helps confirm the validity of qualifications before they are used in the Saudi labor market or in recruitment procedures.
Why Was the Authentication Service Created?
1. Official alternative to the Saudi Cultural Attaché
After the cancellation of the Attaché’s role in certifying qualifications, the Authentication Service became the official authority responsible for reviewing higher academic degrees.
2. Targeted at high-level professions only
The service is required for specialized professions such as:
- All engineering majors
- Medicine in all its branches
- Pharmacy
- Veterinary medicine
- University faculty members
- And other professions requiring advanced academic degrees
3. Mandatory requirement: Full-time study
Degrees obtained through open learning or distance learning are not accepted. The certificate must be issued through regular full-time study.
4. Verification of the qualification’s authenticity
Due to the high service fees, the system contacts the issuing university directly to confirm the validity of the certificate and its details before approval.
Importance of the Authentication Service for the Saudi Labor Market
- A primary requirement for certain specialized jobs within the Kingdom.
- Necessary to prove academic qualification when applying to bring a spouse or children for individuals with high-level professions.
- Helps Saudi authorities ensure the validity of the qualification before issuing a professional residence permit or specialized work contract.
Authentication Fees
- Authentication service fee: 538 SAR (non-refundable)
- University verification fee: varies by each university in Egypt
- Saudi consulate attestation fee: 850–1200 EGP
